NEW YORK – A man has sued the maker of the health drink Boost Plus, claiming the vitamin-enriched beverage gave him an erection that would not subside and caused him to be hospitalized.

The lawsuit filed by Christopher Woods of New York said he bought the nutrition beverage made by the pharmaceutical company Novartis AG at a drugstore on June 5, 2004, and drank it.

Woods’ court papers say he woke up the next morning "with an erection that would not subside" and sought treatment that day for the condition, called severe priapism.

They say Woods, 29, underwent surgery for implantation of a Winter shunt, which moves blood from one area to another.

The lawsuit, filed late Monday, says Woods later had problems that required a hospital visit and penile artery embolization, a way of closing blood vessels. Closing off some blood flow prevents engorgement and lessens the likelihood of an erection.

Woods’ lawsuit, which seeks unspecified damages, names Novartis Consumer Health Inc. as a defendant. A spokeswoman for the company, Brandi Robinson, said Tuesday the company was aware of the lawsuit but does not comment on pending litigation.

Woods’ lawyer did not return telephone calls for comment Tuesday.

Novartis’ Boost Plus Web site describes the drink as "a great tasting, high calorie, nutritionally complete oral supplement for people who require extra energy and protein in a limited volume," in vanilla, chocolate and strawberry.

I think I’ll be steering away from any "Boost Plus" drinks.

In a full-page advertisement in yesterday’s Washington Post, Mr Flynt, the publisher of Hustler magazine, offered a $1m (ВЈ500,000) reward for anyone willing to tell all about their affair with an elected official – and provide proof.

"Have you had a sexual encounter with a current member of the United States Congress or a high-ranking government official?" asks the ad. "Can you provide documented evidence of illicit sexual or intimate relations with a congressperson, senator or other prominent officeholder?

Those willing to betray their partners – or, more likely, exes – were invited to contact Mr Flynt or Hustler by a free-phone number or email.

Personally, I think this is great!  Make those politicians stick to their promises and keep them from getting into trouble!

E-Harmony Is Anti-Gay?

Well, it looks like the E-Harmony Dating site is being sued by for discriminating based on sexual orientation.  Turns out they don’t offer their services for gays, lesbians, or bi-sexuals.  Here’s the skinny…

A lawsuit alleging discrimination based on sexual orientation was filed in Los Angeles Superior Court on behalf of Linda Carlson, who was denied access to eHarmony because she is gay.

Lawyers bringing the action said they believed it was the first lawsuit of its kind against eHarmony, which has long rankled the gay community with its failure to offer a "men seeking men" or "women seeking women" option.

They were seeking to make it a class action lawsuit on behalf of gays and lesbians excluded from the dating service.

eHarmony was founded in 2000 by evangelical Christian Dr. Neil Clark Warren and had strong early ties with the influential religious conservative group Focus on the Family.

It has more than 12 million registered users, and heavy television advertising has made it one of the nation’s biggest Internet dating sites.

The company said the allegations of discrimination against gays were false and reckless.

You know what gets me about this?  E-Harmony is a private company.  They can cater to anyone they want to.  There are tons of dating sites out there that cater to gays and lesbians, why should they care if E-Harmony wants to cater to them?

Besides, if they were to find out how much E-Harmony sucks, they probably wouldn’t even bother wasting their time with it.

David DeAngelo Attacks Speed Seduction!

Video Of A Live Approach

So this guy Oliver, an asian pick up artist who runs the website captivatetoconnect.com, sent me a video of a live pick-up he did.  Check it out:

So as you can see, it is possible to walk up to girls with this stuff and get a good result.  A lot of what he does in the video is covered in detail in my book The Art Of Approaching.  But when you boil everything down, a successful pickup/number close really is just about gainign rapport witht he girl you’re talking to, which I think Oliver did pretty well in the video.

Lots of guys think there’s a "special" way you have to talk to girls to get this stuff to work, but it really is just about being conversational, friendly, and playful.  I think Oliver did a good job of conveying that in the video.  As you can see, he’s not talking all that slow (in fact, he’s quite a fast talker).  He’s not even all that loud.  But he IS engaging, which is the important part of the equation.

I took a few weeks off from blogging and stuff to enjoy the start of summer here in LA.  The sun is bright and hot, the beaches are full, and the women are out in force!  I’ve been having a grand old time (some would say, too much of a good time!).

Aside from going to late night after-parties and picking up porn stars and strippers, I’ve been doing a lot of day-game lately.  Meeting people in malls and movie theatres and the various parks we have in the area.  If you have been neglecting your daytime pickups, let me tell you – you are missing out!  It’s much, much easier to meet people in these low-key situations than it is in the clubs.

Also, around this time of year, online dating is a good way to go.  Fire up those MySpace profiles and Match.com portraits, because women want to start meeting men and going out and doing stuff in the nice weather!

Wow, there’s a really cool site out there that’s like Digg for the seduction community.  It’s called SargeNation.  I’ve been checking it out and its totally awesome.  LOTS of good information on there, all from users of the the seduction community.

So I’ve been hearing a lot about this guy named Nathan X (yes, I’m fairly certain he does, indeed, sport an awesome mohawk!).  He’s a UK based "pick up" instructor who apparently is really, really good.  I got an email from a guy who’s out in the UK scene saying he may be, and I quote, "The best in the UK for the results he gets."

5 Things Never To Say On A First Date

A guy named David Zinczenko posted an article on Yahoo about five things you should never say on a first date.  According to David (who authored the book Men, Love, & Sex, The Complete Users Guide For Women), first dates are like the ultimate relationship chess match.

He gives a few examples of what he things you should say INSTEAD of the typical boring stuff.  See below…

Say This: What do you do for fun?
Not That: What’s your job like?       

Standard question, sure. But it’s one that will elicit a standard answer-good people, I like what I do, blah blah blah. While most will certainly get the employment issue covered, the conversation will be more engaging-and you’ll be more appealing-if you try to home in on those outside interests. Certainly skydiving, poodle rescue, or soup kitchens have got to be more interesting than conference calls and Power Points.      

Say This: You look fantastic
Not That: Good to see you

It may very well be good to see her, but that greeting is about as vanilla as a McDonald’s shake. Instead, it’s all about conveying enthusiasm-without having stalker sirens go off. No need for standing ovations, but a simple compliment sets the tone. The tactic isn’t just for men to use on women, but can be especially effective in the reverse.

I will say this:  Its always better to talk about things that are INTERESTING rather than "hum-drum" or "standard."  I think David hit on this pretty well in the article.

If you’re going to compliment a woman, make it an original compliment.  Don’t say "You look fantastic!"  Say "Wow, you have in incredible sense of style!  I don’t think I’ve ever seen you look so beautiful."  That goes MUCH further than your typical "brush-off" compliment.

Not only that, but when you ask a question, you want to phrase it in such a way that it actually ENGAGES the woman.  So instead of asking "What do you do?" you could say something like "If you could do anything in the world, and were not limited by time, space, or gravity, what would you want to be doing?"

There’s lots of ways you can play it.  But typical rule of thumb:  Be as interesting as possible on the first date!

Sex With A Partner Is 400% Better!

LOVERS know only too well that men usually need a "recovery period" after orgasm, and that sexual intercourse with orgasm is more satisfying than an orgasm from masturbation alone. Now scientists think the two phenomena might be linked.

Following orgasm, the hormone prolactin is released into the bloodstream in both men and women. The hormone makes us feel satiated by countering the effect of dopamine, which is released during sexual arousal.

Stuart Brody of the University of Paisley, UK, and Tillmann KrГјger of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich, measured blood prolactin levels in male and female volunteers who watched erotic films before engaging in masturbation or sexual intercourse to orgasm in the laboratory.

Surprisingly, after orgasm from sexual intercourse, the increase in blood prolactin levels is 400 per cent higher in both sexes compared with after orgasm from masturbation (Biological Psychology, vol 71, p 312).

This explains why orgasm from intercourse is more satisfying than masturbation, says Brody. Since elevated levels of prolactin have been linked to erectile dysfunction, this may also explain why most men need a recovery period after sex.
