It doesn’t matter if you want or don’t want the community to go mainstream. It is and it will happen whether we want to or not. I’ve already been contacted by numerous people in the media field who want to do more reality tv shows, documentaries, TV report, etc.

I think overall it was positive. she was just a bad writer (how she meets the the people why would she think any of that was interesting is beyond me) boring article but overall positive.
What’s interesting is that this sin’t the first time journalists have identified the ‘identity’ of PUA’s/people in the community as being Geeky or Nerdy.
Is that a reflection of percieved social bias – that only geeks/nerds actually need to learn this stuff methodologically – or is it a case in reality that the majority of identities involved in this have an aspect of geekiness?

Look at Mystery. He’s a total Geek. Instead of computers he focused on women, but he’s still a geek by any standard. Currently Dating a 7 and closing 7s as evidenced by the last WTF episode. When I first found this so-called “community” and started reading Mystery’s stuff I noticed how he described himself as a shy, tall, skinny geeky nerd who spent a lot of time online playing dundgeons and dragons. But then he developed “game” and now he’s getting hot models etc. And the KJ brigade reiterated that like a mantra…
“yeah, he’s skinny and geeky just like us… and he spent all his time online just like us… and he’s nerdy and skinny just like us… BUT NOW HES BANGING HB11.5′s!”
Then I saw a pic of him (on SteviePUA’s site) and thought “holy shit, he is good looking” Maybe not a male-model but still good looking enough to not look out of place with a hot chick. And I agree with some of the other detractors who are saying “where’s the super hot chicks in your videos then?” I mean Katya was OK but the rest? Just nice looking IMHO. So really what’s the big deal with a good looking guy getting nice looking girlfriends?

A “new haircut or pair of jeans”… hahah. I wish that actually worked. Most of the articles done on the community from the outside media seem to follow a well-defined, predictable structure:
1) Express disbelief at the notion that it might actually be possible to methodically improve oneself to the point where attracting beautiful women is possible.
2) Pity the men who try and undertake such a venture. Paint them as geeks and misfits.
3) See the techniques in action and brush them off as lucky coincidences.. see them occur again, and finally come to terms with the fact that it is indeed possible for ugly men with the right attitude to bed SHBs. Express insecurity at this fact.
4) Pity the PUAs who have just scored with the SHBs. Portray them as vapid social robots whose only goal in life is to fuck as many women as possible. End the article on a judgmental note with a semi-witty closing line.
The article is pretty fair and smartly written, except for this conclusion on her part:

The author, Paige Phelps seems to be a very intelligent author and is very fair in her writing, she just has no clue what it’s like to be a man who doesn’t get this stuff.
Mystery is a dork, but I think the game has suppressed his dorkdom a lot. When I watched the dvd’s I thought he seemed like a pretty cool guy, but with some dorkiness shining through at points.
But then when I saw the WTF episodes, I was like “whoa, that guy is a SUPER-DORK!!!” At first I thought what the hell have I gotten into, I can’t learn anything from that guy.
But then I thought, well, the WTF stuff was from years ago, and he seems much cooler than that in the DVD’s, so perhaps gaming all the time has allowed Mystery to better himself, and become more “socially calibrated,” or less of a dork. So maybe there’s something to it after all.
I’m a relative newbie, so if I might ask… what are the WTF videos, and where could I get ahold of them?

The POINT is that this HAS to go mainstream the way that card-counting at Blackjack did: it’s just human nature for “profitable” information to spread. Look at the tech bubble of the late 1990s, where everyone suddenly wanted to be a “day trader” because of these “new techniques.” The “seduction bubble” has been inflating for some time, fueled by men who are finally getting a clue and gurus cashing in on them.
When I released my first book in 1998 (Outfoxing The Foxes, followed shortly by 29 Reasons Not To Be A Nice Guy), I took for granted that one day this information would replace the AFC advice you see now. Not much is changing except the content: you’ve had shows dedicated to “relationship advice” for decades. The system is simple: the talk show gets to fill an hour and sell advertising, while the “expert” gets to sell books and the audience gets entertained. One major accomplishment of this proliferation has been to shift the mainstream debate to a more accurate one.
Most of the men who complain about mainstream exposure by now are those men who only found this place because of the mainstream exposure. A good 80-90 percent of the men who are now learning “Game” could have found this stuff as far back as 1998, but they were blind to it not because they didn’t know where to find it, but becuase it didn’t come with the seal of approval of big media.
I had been using the pivot technique for over a decade without anyone knowing what it was, and it was like a nuclear bomb back then. Yet I published it fully knowing that it would become a primary tactic. I did this of course to sell books, but also because it was simply accurate information about how to deal with women, and I thought maybe the nice guys would wise up and level the playing field. Did they do this? No, they say it’s manipulative while the players exploit the weapon. Unless someone has personally given away a major technique, they have nothing to complain about.
I believe most of the dismissals of any problems with mainstream exposure are too simplistic. Here are the more common ones:
1. “Even if she knows what I’m doing, the methods will still work.” Assuming she’s GF material, then this is also true of the 15 guys who got to her before you. Either she’s been rejected as a GF by those men and is of low quality (which is why you still have a shot at her), or one of those guys will claim her and she’ll be devoted to them, and further immune to you. How you park your car may not have changed, but whether or not the parking space is available in the first place, has.
2. “98 percent of the men won’t do the work.” So when they market the methods, they are a magic bullet that the Average Joe can use to get ahead, but when they dismiss any problems with mainstream exposure, suddenly they have a 98 percent failure rate.
3. “If you are tall/rich/handsome/cool/creative and can design your own material, you have nothing to worry about.” Maybe so, but these men never had anything to worry about and were not what fueled the industry. No one’s going to pay huge amounts of money to be told they have to be blessed genetically or socially, and do all the creative work themselves. It was the guys who are incapable of this who needed the methods the most.
4. Relative to 3) above, the “loser AFC” who won’t improve going forward because he has too much competition can still win the game just by not having women take advantage of him. If anything, taunting him about being an AFC loser isn’t going to be good, because you lose him as a friend, and women lose his resources while appearing to be shallow sluts who like those awful PUAs. The AFC who stops spending money on women and stops letting women lie to him has already won before he ever gets laid. If the rich guy doesn’t marry the cheating hottie, she can’t fuck the poolboy because she’ll have to find a way to get the house first and won’t have time to play around. Women are *terrified* of this because there’s no way they can stop an AFC from crashing the gravy train.
5. “Men and women are still having sex.” So? If that were relevant, there wouldn’t have been a need for any methods to begin with, because men and women were having sex back then too.
I am currently withholding all of my NEW THEORY because of the other dynamic here, and that is that the people who used me as a source for their material now have to think for themselves, at a time when they are already confused because the new theory is not so clear. Giving proper and accurate credit to those who create ideas is wise for the customer base, simply because it is those men you want to reward, should you ever need any NEW THEORY in the future. Right now there are several gurus who are more or less fucked because the clue they stole in the past is fast becoming useless, and since they are thieves rather than originators, they don’t know what to tell their many followers of men who also don’t want to admit that they backed the wrong horse.
