Someone sent me a link to an interesting article that says Economists have found no link between money and sex.

WASHINGTON, June 10 (AFP) – More money does not lead to more sex, economic researchers concluded in a study released by a major US economic institute.
The study by David Blanchflower of Dartmouth University and Andrew Oswald of Britain’s Warwick University focused on the “still relatively unexplored links between income, sexual activity and well-being,” the economists wrote.
The study was published last month as a working paper by the National Bureau of Economic Research, which is better known for its determination of recessions and US business cycles.
The researchers, who based the report on a survey of 16,000 Americans, said the effort was part of an “emerging branch of economics” aimed at determining “the empirical determinants of happiness.”
This was the first effort to study “econometric happiness equations in which sexual activity is an independent variable.”
“The paper finds that sexual activity enters strongly positively in happiness equations,” the economists wrote.
“Greater income does not buy more sex, nor more sexual partners. The typical American has sexual intercourse two to three times a month.”
The report found “no statistically significant correlation” between levels of income and sexual activity.
“Money, it seems, does not buy more sexual partners.”
The survey found 19 percent of the “low-income” group reported having sex two to three times a week, compared with 21 percent of the “high-income” group. But only six percent of the high-income group reported sex four or more times a week, compared with eight percent of the low-income respondents.
The report concluded that married people have more sex than those who are single, divorced, widowed or separated, and that the “happiness-maximizing” number of sexual partners is one.
It also found that 2.5 percent in the survey claimed to be homosexual, and concluded that “homosexuality has no statistically significant effects on happiness.”
While higher frequency of sex was associated with higher levels of happiness, the researchers said the cause and effects were unclear: “working out whether sex causes happiness or causality runs in the reverse direction will be particularly difficult here,” they said.

Seriously, that’s like a foot doctor giving a gynocological exam. Totally different field.
I think upper income guys may just pay for it more, because they’re so busy they don’t have time to go out and find women. Of course, none of them would ever really admit that to a couple of economist.
I just find the line “Money does not necessarilly buy you more sexual partners” funny. OF COURSE it can buy you more sexual partners! Just go to Vegas for an hour and see how many sexual partners it can get you.

You’re right, this is a field for an evolutionary biologist, there are definite links between sex and social status.

But the links between money and sex? The thing is most of the guys I know who are rich or have lots of money, are still chumps or beta.
The CEO for the last company I worked for was worth $200 million AUD, and still dressed like he just came from a good-will store. And a cheap one at that!
Rich people often hide their ‘status’ by dressing down. The wealthiest man in the world flew economy for a long time, and a billionaire my father knows wears a cheap plastic watch. They don’t want to attact gold diggers. Some of the wealthiest and most affluent people I know don’t ‘peacock’ or drive nice cars. It also goes to show that peacocking does catch attention.
The only difference money makes is that it lets these rich fuckers BUY sex from so called expensive prostitutes/escorts. To them they are still getting hot sex and if they money doesn’t mean much it’s no different than an AFC that’s successful at buying expensive champagne at a bar to lay a chick. I guess the major difference is the lack of true attraction and it’s all about money.
