So Tyler has a really excellent thread going in the Advanced board of mASF called “How to play hard to get, actually for real.” You can read the whole thing here.
Anyways, everyone’s loving it, and then dvs comes along and posts this:

conveying tentative interest makes the hole thing run much smoother in terms of transitioning, IME.
I have to agree with dvs on this one. I think tentative interest is very much an important part of a seduction. I used to be in the TD camp with the whole “active disinterest” thing, but seeing Swinggcat in action and reading his book, I’ve found using tentative interest is much more effective, because it allows you to take that interest away as a form of “Push-Pull.”

It’s a bit like stealing a high self esteem HB’s frame. They often display “Active Disinterest”, and “Tentative Interest”. For example when they shit test you, and you fail.. she will instantly change state and do a pull away.. she is qualifying you (or disqualifying you as the case maybe) as she considers herself to be the prize. That is the usual dynamic for a HSE HB.
I like the whole concept of reversing the dynamic or stealing the frame if you like. Whereby you are now the prize, and you are qualifying her. However, really your not that interested because being the prize means that you live with an abudance of HB’s chasing you. She is therefore nothing special, but she looks like she might have somthing going on so let’s have a tentative interest.
I am just half way through reading Swinggcat’s book, and I like the way he ties a lot of concepts together. I also think that it is more powerful material for those with an existing knowledge of SS, MM, TD, and AOS, because as I am reading it I can see where all the pieces fit together.
