You know, part of being around in the "community" a while means I’ve gotten to know a lot of people, and very few of them are really cool guys. Luckily, one of the "cool guys" out there that I’ve met is Little Big Dick (or the more PC "LBD").
LBD was one of the guys I befriended early on in the scene. This is one awesome dude. He’s a short guy – like REALLY short – but he’s also a bad ass take-no-prisoner’s marine. He did three tours in Iraq as a mercenary for the love of God! Don’t no one mess with the LBD, motherfucker.
He also has the proud distinction of being the first guy I ever met in the seduction community to get his ass beaten down for AMOGING a guy. When I first met LBD, he had just recovered from a savage bar fight he had when living in Alaska. Apparently he was hitting on some guy’s chick, AMOGed the dude, and when his back was turned the guy attacked him.
But despite getting beaten down, and going to war three freakin’ times, LBD came back to the seduction community. And you know what? He’s actually GOOD at it. If any guy out there thinks their height is an issue when it comes to getting chicks, just learn from this guy. He knows his shit!
So why am I bringing up LBD now?
Well, the BIG reason is he seems to have gotten a job as one of Love
System’s new instructors, and he wrote a great article about natural
game, which seems to be all the rage now.

I’ve been around pickup and dating science for longer than just about
anybody. I’ve seen trends come and go, from creepy old guys telling you
to point at your penis when you talk to hippy shamans guaranteeing that
any woman can squirt. Not to mention the guy who had legions of online
fans based on his “new discoveries” until he was forced to admit that
he was, in fact, a virgin. These things remind me of societal trends
like 80’s clothes and hair, oxygen water or Dungeons and Dragons 3.0:
they are all bad, and they will all ruin your game.This past weekend, I led a Love Systems bootcamp in Seattle (reviews here)
and one student asked me about the latest of these fads, which he
called “natural game”. According to this, you don’t need any of the
best word-for-word scripts from the Love Systems Routines Manual, you don’t need the step-by-step structure from Magic Bullets,
you can just go out and be yourself and have fun and women will come to
you. I told him that that is what most of us were trying to do before
we discovered dating science, that it didn’t work back then, and that
it sure as heck won’t help new people get better now.We teach a step-by-step approach (the innovative Emotional Progression Model from Magic Bullets).
When you have large, complex problems like “see that beautiful woman
over there; get her into bed (or make her my girlfriend)”, it’s really
helpful to break it down into specific tasks that come one after
another. First you do X, until Y happens, and then you do Z. There are
only 6 steps, and only a few combinations within each, but it has
simplified the lives of thousands of men worldwide and it works. And
“being yourself” doesn’t help if you draw a mental blank or run out of
things to say. Sure it’s easy to tell someone to just make conversation
when they run out of things to say, but when you’re talking to a
Playboy Playmate lookalike and her friends are trying to drag her away
and she’s looking at you expectantly to see if you have anything more
to you than a well-delivered opening line…you have to have stuff ready
to go. And it has to be good.That’s why Savoy and The Don created the Love Systems Routines Manual
with hundreds of word-for-word scripts that the top guys in the world
actually use, day in, day out. Why try to use stuff that didn’t work in
the past when there is proven material that has worked time and time
again to guide you?In general, any fad that promises an easy
path without putting in the work sounds – and is – too good to be true.
Does this mean being “natural” is bad or impossible? Of course not. If
you see Love Systems bootcamp graduates out socially, they will look
very relaxed and natural. But that’s because they’ve done the work to
get there.
I tend to agree with LBD’s assessment of the whole "natural game" fad.
I’ve posted about this before, but I honestly don’t think you can start
off teaching guys "natural game" techniques, because being a "natural"
is all about being attractive without thinking about it.
And that, in my humble opinion, only occurs with TIME and EXPERIENCE.
I like to think that I have pretty strong natural game right now. But
it wasn’t always like that. I had to go through the routines and
patterns and lines first.
Why?
Because – you need training wheels. You need something you can use to
give you confidence to walk up to a woman you like and start flapping
your gums. Routines are largely misunderstood by the community at
large. They aren’t some "magical words" you regurgitate to get a
pre-determined response from a woman.
Routines are meant to give you the courage and confidence you need to
gain the necessary experience talking to women, so that you eventually
feel comfortable doing so!
So many problems with women stem from feeling awkward, nervous, and shy
around them. But the more you talk to girls, and the more experience
you gain with them, the more those feelings go away, and routines are
the gateway to gaining that experience.
Let’s face the facts – you can say almost ANYTHING to a girl, and just
through being in proximity to her and not creeping her out, you can
gain attraction. You think routines are meant to elicit an emotion
reponse from a woman, but they aren’t – they’re meant to get your ass
in gear and start talking to her!
Right now, as its being taught by RSD and others, "natural" game is the
same as routine based game, only without the routines. So you’re
basically doing the same thing, only now you have to fumble around with
what to say and act like a douche.
That’s not to say routines are always good. The danger with routines
is people get reliant on them, and before long, guys believe its the
routines and not them that’s the reason for their success. So you have
guys memorizing shitloads of routines because they think that’s what
they need to do.
At some point, you have to learn to leave the routines behind and start
being more natural around women. Engage them on a human level. Be
curious about them. Get to know them. Have fun with them.
Routines are a training mechanism. Natural game is is a lifestyle
mechanism. The two will always work TOGETHER. You can’t just choose
one or the other. You need both.
Most of the best "naturals" I know use routines CONSTANTLY. Not
seduction community routines, but their OWN routines. Naturals tell
people stories about their life that get them enraptured. And its the
same damn stories over and over again. But routines are just stories
by another name. The way they are taught in the community, they are
just other people’s stories you are using to get your foot in the door
and gain the necessary experience with women you need to become a
natural.
That’s something these RSD guys just don’t seem to understand.
