Poll: Who Will Win VH1′s The Pick Up Artist?

September 21, 2007 by

Okay, so the season finale of VH1′s The Pick Up Artist is this coming Monday, and there are only two contestants left – Kosmo and Brady.

So the real question is, who will win?

A_orlando
Kosmo:
He’s our favorite, self-delusional, but oh-so-sweet Latino Heat contestant.  Kosmo has a lot going for him.  First of all, he’s improved a great deal since episode 1 where he was completely unable to approach women.  His head has yet to be on the chopping block for elimination, EVER.  He’s a good looking dude, he’s athletic, AND he’s actually gotten a make-out with a girl and was able to bounce to a cafe from a club with two girls.  He’s also apparently a very good kisser according to Tara.  He’s a natural born competitor (the dude is a boxer), and knows how to psyche out his opponents.  However, sometimes he gets flustered and loses sight of his goal, and he doesn’t always pay attention to Mystery’s teachings.  He also has some major self esteem and body issues, it seems.

B_sprunger
Brady:
Brady was my pick to win at the beginning of the season, but now I’m not so sure.  His head has been on the chopping block a number of times, and there were more than a few instances where it seemed like he plateaued.  He’s also relied a bit too much on his looks in a lot of the challenges.  However, he has been steadily improving.  He’s really listening to Mystery’s teachings and applying them, and he’s been getting some results.  Not only was he able to bounce from a club with a STRIPPER, he was also able to make out with her, even if it did take him a while to pull the trigger.  This at least puts him on an even footing with Kosmo, in terms of success rate on the show.  He’s also got a good look to him that can compete with Kosmo as well, though Kosmo does have a better personality (face it, Brady is pretty boring.).

So who will win?  The final challenge comes down to their ability to teach other guys what they have learned, so it may come down to who is the best communicator.  Who that is, is anyone’s guess, since I don’t think either of them are very good at communicating to others, but if I had to guess, I’d say the advantage goes to Kosmo o that one.

So over-all, my prediction of the ultimate winner and new mPUA is:  Kosmo.

What do you guys think?  Agree?  Disagree?  Let me know who you want to be the next Pick Up Artist!

Kosmo (Alvaro) is really an actor (and may be a plant).
http://www.sceneinteractive.com/talents/ALVARO/ My guess is he wins it.

  2. Rick says:

Brady seems cool enough for the job and will probably be able to break it down and teach it to another guy. Tell Kosmo Hollywood awaits: Mario Lopez is looking for a stand in.

  3. capt bl says:

I know brady seems a little boring, but look how far he’s made it?

  4. Frying says:

Kosmo is going to win !

    Fry.

  5. Duh! says:

    The show’s a fraud.

    Duh!

  6. GH says:

Well if Kosmo Wins then the show was a setup from the getgo.

He’s an ACTOR. No matter how you slice it if he’s the guy who won the show it means the entire thing was a Sham and most likely anything that happened in the show was scripted.

Actually Im thinking that might be the case already. This is not real seduction, this stuff is scripted before hand with all parties involved. Maybe even in such a way that they might not even know the other person is involved.

Reality Based doesn’t necessarily mean reality. I think most people probably learned that long ago.

Hey did you guys know that WWE matches arent real? They are scripted and choreographed.

  7. jazz says:

judging from that link .. kosmo is a pretty shitty actor haha, yeah its fishy but at the same time him doing acting on the side doesnt necessarily mean he was hired as an actor on the show.

  8. Dennarius says:

Guys… stop ranting about this whole actor thing. You are talking about kosmo being an actor like he is tom cruise or someone like that.

The guy has played on one (i think) 15 minute film. Chill out.

But he is going to win, that was clear from day one. He is the alpha of the bunch.

  9. Luffy says:

Just because Kosmo is an actor doesn’t remotely means he is plant you idiot. Aspiring actors/actresses are all over reality and dating shows just trying to get some exposure. It doesn’t mean everything that happens on the show is scripted. DUH.

  10. classygame says:

Guys, when I read You I want to… go home. Cosmo is an actor soo what kind of evidence is it for Mystery? Can’t learn AFC to be PUA? He just based on already a skill proofed person. He was good from start. In that case he could put Matador in programm and take out as a best on end.
From first episode we could see that Cosmo’s ENTHUSIASM was fake. It’s very subtle. He was tried to cover his real trained actor’s personality. He had to look like an idiot from start. I’m not sure if the breakdance stuff and standing in first episode wasn’t to fool us. Yes, he is a bad actor but if he would be too good we could see it.
In 6 and 7 episode he is not soo stupid anymore… running in a pants around a hair… – just my thought only.
And I say, what is wrong with you master guys? Fuck! Do you afraid to show a truth or what?

  11. CK- says:

I don’t think any of them deserve the title “Master pickup artist”.

They’re barely even pickup artists, let alone masters.

Hell, none of them have even brought a girl home yet!!!

But, I have to say I’d bet on Kosmo. Brady doesnt look like he can teach.

  12. CC says:

the show is just a long advertisement for mystery stuff

  13. Mojo says:

See, i dunno if its scripted but yeh hes an actor… but if it was scripted, y didnt they make the guys do alot more than they actually did… none of them really made huge accomplishements…

  14. Me No Like says:

The point is that the producers felt that they needed actors and comedians–people with stage presence–to show a marked improvement in the contestants. This shows a lack of confidence in Mystery’s routines, tactics and gambits to get a guy from zero to hero. In fact, you can see Brady rolling his eyes and bored when Mystery explains stuff like it is earth-shattering knowledge.

Kosmo and Brady could probably out-game Mystery and Matador anytime they wanted to–even on Day 1.

The show was a complete joke.

  15. Godspeed says:

I have to agree with you on this one. But not entirely based on the same arguments.

People tend to choose other people that they like. Cosmo and mystery are more compatible to each other and Brady isn’t. Brady’s personality will and doesn’t match with mystery’s.

And I think mystery doesn’t want to tour an entire year with someone he doesn’t like or that isn’t entertaining enough.

So Brady has to do a lot better or Cosmo has to fail a lot worse.

So yep. I agree. Cosmo will be the winner.

  16. JT says:

I don’t think it matters whether Kosmo has acted before (once) either. Many of the people who want to be on drama-based reality shows are interested in being actors and actresses (just like aspiring singers audition for American Idol and aspiring comedians audition for Last Comic Standing). It doesn’t prove anything about the show.

That said, I don’t think Brady or Kosmo qualify as PUAs. They’ve both improved, but I don’t see real “artistry” in their interactions. Both of them seem to have largely gotten by on their looks with average-looking women. Shouldn’t a guy have to pickup at least one “9″ or “10″ before he’s labeled a PUA?

  17. Geese Howard says:

It totally makes a difference. The guy above said it. If you guys had some social experience you could see that Cosmo was faking it. Period.

    Or

I got a better way to put it.

It’s television. As a matter of fact it’s “Reality Television”. So of course it’s all real. You can and should believe everything you see on television. They never script Reality Television shows. Silly me.

  18. Geese says:

Thing is, the more you ride Mystery’s Jock and believe his show and everything he does is perfect, the more you are Alpha-ing him while simultaneously Beta-ing yourself.

Be your own man. Thats the secret to getting laid.

  19. Anonymous says:

Well Kosmo is a good looking aspiring actor, and Brady is a good looking male model: http://www.actionagencyla.com/bradysprunger.

The show would’ve given more credibility to Mystery and his method had one of the unattractive guys made it through. Let’s be honest, EVERYBODY knows good looking guys can get laid, EVERYBODY KNOWS THIS.

  20. Geese says:

Kosmo will win it, although Brady should win it because he is the most sexy.

Hell, i would fuck both of them.

  21. doctor_r says:

    who cares.

  22. Geese says:

And I’m so obsessed with fucking Geese in his ass as well as Kosmo and Brady that I like to Imagine I’m him and masturbate while impersonating him on thundercats lair.

  23. GH says:

Wow guy. I wish I could say thanks but I like girls. It’s nice to have a fanclub, just not the creepy, gay impersonator type.

  24. Flash says:

I think Brady will win because he will be able to teach some else how to do it… he is a “slow burn” kind of guy rather then kozmo’s getting all excited because he was able to bounce two girls

  25. Doppelganger says:

    Kosmo just won

i knew he would for some reason

even though i thought personally brady was a very good teacher

    really laid back and chill

kosmo was soooo fucking hyper all the time but it happens

as for the whole actor thing

    i dont know

    show was entertaining

  26. Suppa says:

Messed up. If Kosmo is an actor and Brady is a model

    http://www.sceneinteractive.com/talents/ALVARO/
    http://www.actionagencyla.com/bradysprunger.htm

it’s quite sad. These guys definetely have an advantage. Being a good PUA is basically being a good actor as well, as well as good inner game. To become an actor or a model one goes through some serious training that deals not only on how you present yourself but even on inner game as well.

I was quite happy about the show, but just today I realize it’s more a scam than anything else serious. Sure it’s entertaining, but it creates the impression that it’s for real. Mystery is for real, sure… but the show is fucked up if they had to get actors and models to do it and posed them as if they are just regular guys. OF COURSE Kosmo is faking, and Brady is putting on his best act. Even if they are second grade actors, an actor acts, and they can bring shit up at will.

Thumbs down to Mystery. This show is a fake as it gives the wrong impression.

Of course the best actor wins! They were not zeros.. they have a life and are way ahead of a loser who really needs help.

Good production though. VH1 made it an entertaining show. But to believe that it really happened, no way. It was all fukcing staged to the max. The goal was not to help any of the guys. It was just to make a fun “fiction” show.

  27. Too Bad says:

    So basically this was scripted…

Um. At least “Keys to the VIP” is real.
Too bad. I Really don’t know if its Mystery’s Fault or the Producers or what but it really takes away from the integrity of the show when the guy who won was an actor all along. The other guy was a model.

    WTF, man.

They shoulda just took all the PUAs we know already and put them in a house for a few months and had them all compete each week to see who the best PUA was.

Get some RJ vs DavidD vs Mystery vs TD and so on…

I mean theres no way anyone can prove at this point that the show was fake, but seriously the fact that it was laced with professionals who claimed to be other than what they were makes a guy wonder.

It might be better to see Mystery teach an ugly dude to get good with women, A guy who doesn’t already have it going in the looks department. A guy with no background who works in a grocery store or a factory or whatever.

Some normal dude. Truth is that some think that Mysterys game is only good for guys who have decent looks already.

Now Im not shitting on him, because some of his techniques are effective for me. I do use them sometimes.

Im simply shitting on the show being very questionable.

fuck it though. It is Hollywood.

  28. Dave says:

It’s not uncommon for first seasons to pile in a bunch of people already in the entertainment industry. Did you ever see an announcement saying “come audition for The Pickup Artist”? Hell no. The way reality TV works is that the first season is always loaded with people who are lesser-known actors, models, musicians, etc., because those are the people closest to “reality” you can get without having real auditions. If a show makes it to a second season, they will audition and real people will get in. Even Beauty and the Geek did this. Until a show is widely known, they have to rely on talent scouts and agents to get them some people who would fit the show. While Brady and Kosmo were professionals, I seriously doubt it impacted the results of the show. Of course the two with better looks made it to the end; a few weeks is simply not enough time to turn someone into a mPUA who isn’t used to attention from the ladies. They need a level of confidence/competence that can only be built with time. Next season, we may get some real candidates in there, and see it play out differently. But the first season, like pickup, is meant to attract. Now that it’s attracted, it can move into comfort mode and get real people in there to work with.

  29. Anonymous says:

You’re all assuming there will be a 2nd season? I haven’t seen the ratings for this season, but I’m skeptical that this will come back for a 2nd season. I love Mystery and crew, but the premise was entirely wrong. It needed to be more like “Seduction School” with Juggler, not an elimination style game. And please, let’s not forget, these guys HARDLY IMPROVED!

  30. $tole says:

    31st post!!

    Haha fu tc!!!

  31. mva says:

    mmhhh…
kosmo is a well looking guy and fit, Brady is on the same boat. those guys didn’t need A LOT of work to be “good” with girls (and with “good” i mean a kiss in some weeks :-| )

I would have appreciated if Scott ( who was cleverly doing his homeworks) reached the final.
that would be the PROOF that the method works on anybody despite the point where you start from…

if i were as stiff as scott, i d think 3 times before spending $$$ on a bootcamp and time to study routines.
If I were RJ i d take him under my wing to complete my transformation….

    Mva

ps my vote is for Kosmo…

  32. Me No Like says:

there will NOT be a 2nd season of this insipid tv show.

  33. Geese says:

He fucked it up. Pit these guys who teach against each other. That would make a good show. See which guys pull the most ass.

I don’t want self edited BS like Mehow or LRs – Lets see some real live sets from the guys who say they are best.

Put em all in a house and get it goin on. No eliminations by the week, leave em all in the house till the end of the show and score them on things like club game, day game, overcoming obsticles, number of Lays, number of same day !closes, and so on.

If one guys goes around and says he’s the best and another guy says the same thing, lets settle it. Do it up. That would be a show people would watch.

  34. newguy says:

wait so im kinda late… is this how mystery taught style? :p

  35. Ducks says:

That’s what *I* said. Check out “Keys to the VIP” on YouTube.

  36. RayGordon says:

What they could do is either have a group of gurus on for a season, tracking their game (letting each do his thing), or assign the gurus each two students and work with them over three months.

Do it like Ice Road Truckers, where the cameras have to adjust to the participants (since that was real reality and real people working dangerous jobs).

There are methods that don’t require inner game and which can get quick results that demonstrate the potential for long-term improvement.

The show didn’t have to be rigged at all. The truth is more than fascinating enough.

  37. Rex says:

Those interactions at the strip club were fake as it comes. Like that “stripper” was going to sign a release AFTER she made out with that guy in the limo?? Like all those “Strippers” thought it would be okay to sign after the fact? I call bullshit on the whole thing.

  38. J says:

It would have been cool to see the stakes raised higher, Mystery is one of the best no question, but neither VH1 or Venusiann Arts had the balls to but their reputation on the line and hire real people and watch the really grow and get real results.

Instead they hired actors, Kosmo probably was determined to win from the begining wheather he knew it or not.

Would’ve been cool to see Mystery, RJ, DD, and TD all go into a teachingw war, where they each have one student and they train him to succeed, and we watch who improves the most.

That would be intresting and the stakes would be a lot higher. This show was so damn boring and phoney.

    I blame VH1 producers.

    “The Pick Up Artist”

    Worst.

    Reality

    Show.

    Ever.

  39. hoho says:

Kosmo and Brady are both ACTORS!
