Well, it’s been talked about for years, my friends, but 0-hour is soon upon us. As you all know (and if you don’t, you’re going to find out right now), Neil Strauss — also known as Style, the most powerful of the Jedi — has been writing a book for the past couple of years about his experiences in this underground seduction community of ours, and on September 6th this book will be released to the masses.
Not only that, but on September 1st, Primetime Live will be running a special on Neil, his book, and the community on ABC. I understand the full hour of the show will be devoted to Neil and the community, and will feature people like Mystery and MINE’99 (who apparently claims he can get any guy laid, but whatever). You’ll also probably see the Cliff’s List seminar on there since Primetime Live filmed that seminar. I hear the guys from Pick-Up 101 in San Francisco will be featured briefly too, though who knows what makes the final edit.
Since Primetime Live is based on ABC, you can definitely expect a "pro-feminist/anti-men" stance where they try to show both sides of the story (the benefit of learning pick-up vs. how women "really" respond to it) while missing the whole point of what this community tries to teach entirely. The fact is that most women will respond to the tactics we use, but if someone comes up to the right after we use them with a camera and asks "Would you sleep with that guy," the answer would always be "No!" simply because the girl doesn’t want to look like a slut on national TV.
As for the book, I personally cannot wait to read it, mostly because I was present for a great deal of what is documented in it. I’ve known for a long time now that Niel is undoubtedly one of the biggest success stories of the community and one of its most skilled seducers, so to get this inside look at his failures, setbacks, success, and ultimate triumph in achieving his goal will be really eye opening for me. And for those of you who love the community drama, there probably won’t be any shortage of that in the book too. Here’s the Amazon.com summary of the book:

With his brains and dedication, Strauss renames himself Style and soon
becomes a master of the game—able to get sex from beautiful women who
once would have run the other way.But The Game doesn’t get
really interesting until Strauss deviates from his NC-17 Horatio Alger
story and tells what happens when he moves into a Sunset Strip mansion
with a group of other PUAs. He starts to see the misogyny of the sport
and realizes that most of its leaders had miserable childhoods. The AFC
who became a PUA to understand women ultimately becomes an expert on
men.As Strauss grows restless to talk about things other than number
closes and phase shifts (the book’s glossary is a juicy read of its
own), the mansion loses its appeal and he reluctantly grows up. When he
meets a tough-talking band mate of Courtney Love’s named Lisa and they
bond over music, we can guess where the narrative is headed. In the
book’s final pages, he dumps onto his bed all the phone numbers he’s
collected and tells Lisa, "I’ve spent two years meeting every girl in
L.A. And out of them all, I chose you," which is like telling your
mother-in-law that the Thanksgiving dinner you had last year at
Applebee’s was nothing compared to the one she just prepared. But for
some reason, Lisa doesn’t flee. I can only hope that in the inevitable
2007 movie version, starring Jack Black and Kate Hudson, Lisa throws
the numbers in his face and leaves him for a guy who knows how to pay a
girl a compliment.Amy Sohn is the author of My Old Man, which was just released in paperback by Simon & Schuster, and she writes the "Mating" column for New York magazine.
Note that the "2007 movie version" is a bit of a joke. There very well may be a movie about this book (I believe it’s already been optioned) but I don’t think there are any plans for it right now.
Regardless, The Game is going to be a fantastic read. For those of you who don’t know Neil’s work, he also wrote the biographies for Motley Cru, Marilyn Manson, Jenna Jameson, and Dave Navaro. This is the first book Neil has written that’s fully about him, so it’s a bit of a departure from his previous works, but that should make it all the more interesting.
I highly recommend you preorder your copy of The Game now so that when the 6th rolls around, it’ll be waiting for you in your mailbox.

And have the proper agreetments with all parties right? : I want to take a workshop. But, because of my background, I gotta keep my nose clean. I am a little mad at Style, I think he’s just cashing in on this without any respect to the community, now the last thing I want to see is around 10 PUA wanna be asshats mouthing out “WLM?” at clubs. I am sure they will not be congruent to their opener to follow up thus diluting it, making it difficult for guys (like me) who are way ahead but not there yet.
To all the individuals who feel this book is going to unearth our community and expose us:
Style writing this book doesn’t fuck it up for us at all. Think about it, most people don’t care to learn this stuff because of their ego, or if they do try and fail their ego will stop them from doing the rest.
Most people need to hit rock bottom before researching and experimenting with PU.
Also, if you do PU correctly, girls won’t notice routines, teases, lines etc. They should come off naturally. If you are a good pick up artist, everyone will assume you are a natural so this book won’t matter.
And even if the book does get in our way, you should be able to change the frame or switch her reality from thinking about the book to thinking about you. If anything, this could be a small challenge very easy to jump over and up your value.
Furthermore, my guess is most people will read this book and just fantasize about being in the community and becoming a pick up artist.
But they probably won’t really be serious about it like us.

A guy just doesn’t come across this online, Its not a pop up ad. Its months of frustration + depression teamed together. The person could just throw in the towel, walk away and never have a GF, but I decided to figure this out no matter what, It took me months of internet research to find the right product waded through all that bullshit. But Style’s book is going to deliver the goods to the doorstep of every AFC. Agreed, if David D, Mys and half a dozen other PUAs thought similarly we wouldn’t be having this kind of success but who said their information was for free??

Also, when you have a dozen reality shows which treat women like the trophy, ass kissing the whole deal it would take a lot of energy to work against the current. I would still put my money that guys would not get it, though they would still be intrigued.

Exactly. How has “The Rules” changed the way most men behave? Not much. How many guys outside of the “community” have taken the time to read this book? Not many. We have a distorted view of the community becasue we are a part of it, but in actuality it is very small.
Most men are bombarded with media propaganda, and Hollywood movies, that almost always show “PUA’s” as rich ass kissing men (albeit smooth). The sheer numbers the maingstream reaches will keep pumping out AFCs for MANY years to come. So, don’t worry so much.
This book will have NO WHERE near the impact “The Rules” had, and that had almost no impact on the way men interact with those women. It’s not like men are talking to their boys saying “Yea, she tried to do chapter 2 on me but I was having none of it”.
The fact is most people are too lazy and would rather live out their lives in quiet desperation than put their egos on the line and become a part of the community. Even picking up a book like would be a blow to most men’s egos. Although, since Neil is a known name and it is more of a story of his personal journey it may have more mass appeal.
Lastly, if this book does explode then I guess the “community” will adopt more of a natural approach, but the fundamentals will still be ingrainded and negate none of a PUA’s ability.

That’s some funny ass shit, man. If only it were true. I agree with the last couple of comments above in the fact that woman may read this, but still go about their bullshit ways and filter out the mice from the men.
I do like what Ray Gordon wrote and I believe it is a good theory, but most woman who are not Femi-Nazis won’t care too much about the book and just brush it off like a silent fart coming out of someone’s ass. Although the opposite is true for the woman who are femi-nazis.
One thing I think it will do for the men who pick up the book is that they will read it at first. Then they will think about the reading and have doubts about the teachings in the “community”. Afterwards they will see a pattern which will in turn make them more interested in what the book has to say. Who knows, the book just might turn out to be the second bible for some newbies. Overall, the end idea for most is to communicate in a way that works, to make the girl feel good, and to develop yourself into somebody that girls want to sleep with.
Tell ya what? Girls *like* guys that have put the effort in to be somebody they want to sleep with.
Heck, several of the PUAs I know *tell the girls that they are trained players and incorporate that into their game*. There’s a tendency for this to invoke “anti-slut defense”, and some of them still chose to do so. I occasionally do so myself, though I wouldn’t call myself a PUA (at the moment, anyway.)

Thundy…don’t know where you get your “info” about what I claim on the segment.
No one can predict what will be edited; however my info is that the segment does NOT constitute the entire program; my latest is it is 35-45 minutes, so there will be at least one other segment about something else.
I can predict that, if the stuff I saw while I watched John Q. interview Neil all gets left in, some people in the community will NOT BE HAPPY AT ALL.
I’m in the UK right now, so I won’t see the show for at least many hours after it airs, if not days, but I’m sure I’ll get very thorough feedback.
I’m sure ABC will include comments from mouthy feminists to add “balance” and so they can avoid the apperance of endorsing the book, but I wouldn’t giveit much weight. The producer is a good guy and is down with the idea of pulling chicks.

Okay. Okay. So if it’s “Game Over” then I think we should all go back to becoming the little bitches we all were once and expose the community to hotties. All sarcasm, aside I believe that there’s too much thought being put on this book. The book is gonna be entertaining to say the least and sure it will reveal secrets of the “community” to woman, but that doesn’t mean we are gonna have to change our attitudes. What it comes down to is just being a man, understanding when you have attraction (with or without any “negs” or “c&f”) and then escalating further.

Ever seen all those books in the business section of the bookstore showing people “How To Sell”?
Well.. there are still people out there using those sales techniques selling their shit. Prospects are STILL “falling for it”.
OTOH, there are those salesmen who don’t sell much of anything.

So let me get this straight. Woman are gonna start to micro-analyze what other men do to see if they are “wannabe players”. It shouldn’t surprise anyone that Style wrote The Game. He is a writer and after reading Dirt, I have to say he is an excellent f’ing writer. I would rather have him representing the community than various others.
Second, from one PUA to the next, games differ dramatically. I doubt the book will reveal all of the different ways to pick up women. Anyone who knew the community 3-5 years ago will tell you that the information available has grown exponentially. It will be the same in 3-5 years.
Third, if it keeps us from screwing feminazis, so be it. Feminazis are especially reserved for AFCs and/or their gfs.

With that said, don’t you think that it is high time that men and women begin to work together for common objectives rather than thinking of each other as coming from enemy camps? Both sexes are looking for someone, whatever that capacity may be.
As I see it, there is a real “crisis in singleville”, particularly with the millions of divorced middle agers. There has undoubtedly been a dramitic cultural shift. Very few men are approaching women – period! But, it didn’t start a mere 5 years ago. Rather, it finally began to filter down to the younger generation. (which is scary) As far as I am concerned, whatever you PUA coaches can do to correct the downward spiral of man/woman interactions the better and the sooner you can get to them, the more likely skills will become ingrained. Believe it or not, these days a beautiful, fit, intelligent woman is hard pressed to even get approached. Meanwhile, good, decent, succesful single guys are complaining that they can’t meet anyone either. Perhaps for every guy you elevate, 10 women will be happy (if even only for a night) Most players eventually grow up, it’s a fact of life. But, without the skills/courage/desire to approach women they will be nowhere in middle age. Actually, I should change that to “we” will be nowhere.

I simply want to say that your insights are brilliant and your last few posts are just awesome. Most importantly what you say about “anti-player” method and “fox-hunting” is just…TRUE.
In a nutshell your system works like this:
Everything is BLACK and WHITE. NO GRAY MATTER. Period.
Women have a choice…Nice Guys or Players. When you approach a woman, you basically run a RIDICULOUSLY simply routine on her that FORCES her to choose between the two.
a. She either ***HAS*** to pick the men she “claims” to want (Nice Guys, AFC’s etc)…
or…
b. She ***HAS*** to admit to LOVING TO FUCK the men she CLAIMS to hate. Thus, damaging her rep and making her look like a “stupid slut.” Period.
The catch is this: Women HIGHLY value their reputations. They guard them with their LIVES, pratically. And experience has taught me that there are TWO things that a woman fears most in this society (where it concerns men that is):
1. (Most important) Looking like a SLUT.
2. Looking STUPID.
She will do ANYTHING to prove that she is the opposite of the above. EVERY MAN’S game shoud be structured to exploit these two fears/weaknesses. PERIOD. Women have been doing it to us since…uh…FOREVER!

Lets say that Ray is right, and this stuff is exposed to all women, how does that affect the new breed of PUA who goes direct.
Ok, so women know all the tactics and games, but what if the guy works out at the gym to keep himself in shape. He also has a great dressing style that suits him and is well groomed. To top it off, his only game is being his naturally confident self. He just talks to women and applies kino, thus getting her turned on and advancing things sexually.
How is “The Game” going to affect this guy? He’s naturally confident and on the surface he appears to just talking normally. No one knows that he is a master of social conversations and excellent at arousing women and leading them.
I don’t believe this guy will be affected. Thus, direct guys will continue their success, and the shift to direct will increase even more. You can’t stop someone from just being themselves…..

I think people’s impending vision of doomsday is way overreacting, probably due to a perceived scarcity mentality. People’s mind’s comes up with the worst possible senario every time. It’s as if there’s going to be a fundamental change everywhere instantly and that mass america will be doing PUA in the streets by the end of this week. Or that women will be ‘in the know’ and it’s going to be game over for PUA. I doubt that’ll happen. Many of the people who already know this stuff barely approach woman. Some viewers might try a couple of times, get shot down and quit. As Anthony Robbins says, if it’s not within their identity to do this, they’re not going to be doing it very long.
If that’s what you call foxhunting, then I agree with you. As for the Cupid system, I think it’s flawed b/c it assumes that women value everything equally. In fact, women value personality and status more than looks. Therefore, only a minimum level of looks is truly required.
As for money, sometimes game trumps money. Alexander Hamilton married the daughter of one of thew wealthiest men at that time. He was a poor bastard child who used game to seduce a rich a girl. I am not denying that money and power aren’t the 2 most important factors, but clearly they can be overcome.
Another factor that you miss is target selection. Young college aged girls are much more likely to have sex with a guy (and even a relationship in most cases) based on attraction and how he makes her feel. Only women who realize their looks are running out, or don’t have the education to make anything of themselves, care about money and power.
As for your double bind situation, I think most women would just abstain from sex, rather than fuck a guy she isn’t attracted to. Just b/c you cockblock her from sleeping with some guy doesn’t mean she’s willing to jump in bed with you. Maybe if she’s extremely LSE, but most women I know aren’t THAT messed up.
The last thing I can say is that you can’t control attraction. If something is attractive, people will want it. In this day and age of instant gratification, most women will not be able to resist a guy that arouses her and makes her feel good…….

Hey guys, I just came up with an opener for those who want to experiment with something new. Here it goes:

I’ve been studying gaming for a while and it takes a lot of time and effort for it to be an instinctive part of you. So even if someone reads The Game, it will still require a lot of dedication to get anywhere. And since most people are lazy, it won’t have the effect Gordon predicts.
